Roman Catholic? Baptist? Protestant? Seventh Day Adventist? Mormon? None of the Above? What actually is a real BIBLE Christian? Read on to find out the answer to this question...

What actually makes someone a real Christian?

No one is born a Christian. No one becomes a Christian gradually. No one deserves to be a Christian. No one is in themselves good enough to become a Christian. Yet there are millions of Christians in the world today.

The word “Christian(s)” is used several times in the Bible, and each time it is used to describe those who have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.

"And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Acts 11:26

A real Christian is one who has carefully and deliberately placed his faith (“believed”) in Jesus Christ, God’s Son. The Bible uses other words to describe Christians, such as the “saved” and “believers.” How does someone actually become a real Christian? We must turn to the Bible, God’s Word, to find out the answer.

A Christian is someone who has learned and believes the following facts:

1.Everyone is a Sinner

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"  Romans 3:10

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"  Romans 3:23

2. Even our very best moral efforts are not good enough for salvation

"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;"  Isaiah 64:6

"How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?"  Job 15:16

3. Because God is holy, we have earned judgment on our sins

"For the wages of sin is death..."  Romans 6:23

4. Jesus Christ paid the full debt of the sin of everyone in the world

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,

Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood,

we shall be saved from wrath through him."  Romans 5:8-9

5. Repentance is a willingness to admit you are wrong and turn from your sin, admitting you have offended a Holy God

"There is a way that seemeth right unto a man,

but the end thereof are the ways of death.  Proverbs 16:25

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.  Acts 3:19

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name

under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."  Acts 4:12

6. We are saved by simple faith, calling upon the name of the Lord Jesus

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  Romans 10:13

If you have not already done so, you can become a real Christian today. Do you believe what God said about his Son Jesus in the Scriptures? OK, then humbly pray a prayer something like this:

“Dear Lord God: I admit my sinfulness and the fact that I deserve judgment for my sin.

I believe that Jesus Christ, your Son, died on the cross, was buried and rose again for me.

According to your Word, I call upon you to forgive all my sins and save me from hell.

Please take me into your family and make me a real Christian.

Thank you for saving me. Amen.”
